Next Door Restaurant crowns full 'phoenix' effect
The new Next Door restaurant marks the latest stage in the million-pound plus redevelopment of the abandoned site of the former Grand Ash Hotel.
Charlotte and Rhys Williams, owners of the neighbouring, four-star Dunoon Hotel, took possession of the much-neglected property prior to the first lockdown and have spent the intervening time on a dramatic makeover.
The result is 18 stunningly stylish bedrooms upstairs and a beautiful bar and restaurant on the ground floor, complete with a new kitchen. 'You could say that a phoenix has risen out of the ‘Ash’,' Charlotte and Rhys explain.
'We’ve long wanted to create a destination hotel for Llandudno with a very different look and feel, a place that can provide reasons to visit all year round and address what we see as a gap in the local dining out market, namely the quality you associate with fine dining quality but in a more relaxed and informal environment.'
Charlotte and Rhys are passionate champions of supporting the local economy to the extent that 90 per cent of the project’s spending has stayed in North Wales. 'We’ve backed local trades and suppliers to make all this happen. I think it’s the responsibility of businesses such as ours to spend locally to generate the maximum possible wealth for the region.'
