Next Door bags first dining award
The Next Door Restaurant in Llandundo has landed a coveted Diners’ Choice badge from the top restaurant reservation booking site Open Table just weeks after opening.
The award, which brackets the restaurant with the best in North Wales, is based on predominantly five-star reviews and ratings posted by diners since the Next Door opened its doors at the beginning of June. Since then it has steadily built up a following based on the growing popularity of the small and sharing plates dining experience.
One diner praised the “stylish, pared back interiors” before adding: “The small plate dishes were incredible - tasty, varied and well presented. The wine list holds wines you won’t see every day, so is worth a real browse.” Another praised the “passion and creativity of the chef” while another still even found time to laud the “lovely hand wash in the bathroom”.
Next Door is the brainchild of Charlotte and Rhys Williams, who own the neighbouring, four-star Dunoon Hotel, and their AA two-rosette executive chef Rob Kennish. Together with a new team of chefs, including two – Josh Hughes and Henry Freeman – who trained under Cornish legend Rick Stein, they have created a dining destination that focuses on top quality ingredients from local producers. The restaurant also seeks to provide all the finesse and high standards of fine dining without any of the fuss and formality.
